What You Have To Know About Maintaining Yacht Engines
For yachts, the engine is like a heart. The heart is a pacemaker for all functions of the human body. Only when the engine function is normal can the yacht operate normally. For the engine, the engine oil is the blood of the yacht, and the water is like the water in the human body. Whether the water temperature is appropriate will directly affect the quality of the engine, and the quality of the engine oil will directly affect the degree of lubrication in the engine.
The engine must be regularly tested and replaced with water and oil. The deposition of oil in the human body in the blood vessels can cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. If the engine is not changed regularly, after turning on the engine, you will find that there are many thick and greasy oils like tar. Greasy is due to the deterioration and oxidation of oil products, or the quality of the oil is not related. Too little antioxidant is added, causing greasy adhesion to the engine, forming a kind of "oil calcium", causing serious wear of the engine, the engine that loses lubrication is easy to "bite" and cause the yacht to break down. Therefore, it is best to maintain and maintain the engine according to the hours specified by the manufacturer.
There are six points to note when maintaining a yacht engine:
1. When the engine is running in water, it should be rinsed and dried immediately after use. Rinse the cooling water channel with water to prevent blockage of sediment. Spray anti-rust paint on those surfaces that may be rusty.
2. Regularly wash the engine with soapy water, and then apply a layer of car wax.
3. When used in seawater or brackish water, anti-corrosion anode blocks should be added to protect the ship and machinery.
4. When parking for a long time, the gearbox should be lifted off the water. When relocating the outboard motor from the ship, the engine should be placed in a vertical position until the water in the cooling system is drained. When parked in cold weather, the gearbox should be submerged in water at all times. When lifting above the water surface, special attention should be paid to antifreeze. In order to avoid difficulties when the engine is restarted, do not start after disassembling the fuel pipe or run out of gasoline in the engine.
5. The bottom of the ship can directly affect the speed of the ship. The bottom of the ship should be cleaned regularly to keep the bottom surface clean.
6. Do not use it for a long time. After the water in the cooling system is completely discharged, the boat should be placed in a suitable position or on the boat frame. When storing, do not place the gearbox higher than the machine head, otherwise, any remaining water will be left in the exhaust jacket and can flow back into the cylinder causing serious damage.
