What You Have To Know To Maintain The Yacht Engine

For a yacht, the engine is like a heart. The heart is the pacemaker for all functions of the human body. Only when the engine is functioning properly, the yacht can operate normally. For the engine, the oil is the blood of the yacht, and the water is like the water in the human body. Whether the temperature of the water is suitable directly affects the quality of the engine work, and the quality of the oil directly affects the degree of lubrication in the engine.

The engine must be regularly tested and replaced with water and oil. The body's oil and fat deposits in the blood vessels can cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and if the engine does not change oil regularly, it will be found that many of them are heavy and greasy like tar. Greasy is caused by the abnormal oxidation of oil caused by frequent oil changes, or the quality of the oil is not enough. The anti-oxidant added too little, causing greasy adhesion to the engine, forming a kind of "oil calcium", causing serious wear of the engine, and the engine that loses lubrication is easy to "kill" and cause the yacht to break down. Therefore, it is best to carry out engine maintenance and maintenance according to the number of hours specified by the manufacturer.

There are six points to note about the maintenance of the yacht engine:

1. When the engine is running in water, rinse it with water and wipe it off immediately after use. Rinse the cooling water with water to prevent sedimentation. Spray anti-corrosive paint on those surfaces that may rust.

2. Regularly wash the engine with soapy water and then apply a layer of car wax.

3. When used in seawater or brackish water, anti-corrosion anode blocks should be added to protect the ship and machine.

4. When parking for a long time, the gear box should be lifted off the water surface. When migrating an outboard from a ship, the engine should be placed in a vertical position until the water in the cooling system is drained. Parked in cold weather, the gearbox should be immersed in water at all times. When lifting above the water surface, special attention should be paid to antifreeze. In order to avoid difficulties when the engine is restarted, do not start or remove the gasoline in the engine after removing the oil pipe.

5. The condition of the bottom of the ship can directly affect the speed of the ship. The bottom of the ship should be cleaned regularly to keep the bottom surface clean.

6. If it is not used for a long time, put the boat in a suitable position or boat frame after completely discharging the water in the cooling system. When storing, do not place the gearbox above the head, otherwise any remaining water remaining in the exhaust casing can flow back into the cylinder causing serious damage.
