Classification, Matching And Construction Methods Of Yacht Paint

1. Classification of yacht paint according to yacht material

The yacht can be divided into wooden boats, fiberglass boats, Kevlar fiber reinforced composite boats, steel boats, and aluminum alloy yachts. At present, glass fiber reinforced plastic boats account for the vast majority, and Kevlar reinforced materials are used more in rowing boats, sailboats, and luxury boats; aluminum alloy yachts account for a certain proportion of outboard motorboats and large luxury yachts; The above-mentioned ocean-going large luxury yachts account for a large proportion. According to different materials, the types of paints used are also different, mainly divided into four categories: wooden yacht paint, fiberglass yacht paint, steel yacht paint, and aluminum alloy yacht paint.

Second, the difference between yacht paint and ordinary paint:

1. Under normal circumstances, yachts pay more attention to aesthetics than ordinary ships, so the requirements for paint gloss will be higher.

2. The yacht is exposed to sunlight for a long time, so the yacht paint must be more resistant to ultraviolet rays than ordinary paint. Long-term exposure will not powder, no yellowing, and no fading.

3. The seawater resistance of yacht paint is better than ordinary paint, and it will not fall off after long-term immersion.

3. Matching of yacht paint:

1. The matching of the wooden yacht paint is mainly as follows: first, scrape the putty or putty to fill the gaps and level the pits. Second, the sealing primer (polyester sealing primer or acrylic sealing primer). Third, polyester topcoat, polyurethane topcoat, acrylic topcoat, or nitro coat. Fourth, varnish (or not).

2. The matching of FRP yacht paint is: Choose the type of paint according to the material of FRP, there are three main types, HJ104 epoxy thick coating topcoat, HJ571 acrylic topcoat or HJ500 aliphatic polyurethane topcoat, generally only one or two Topcoat, no primer.

3. The matching of steel yacht paint is HJ103 epoxy cloud iron thick coat primer (two) and HJ500 aliphatic polyurethane topcoat (two).

4. The matching of aluminum alloy yacht paint is: first, HJ126 epoxy zinc yellow thick primer (or phosphate primer). The second way, scrape coating putty. Third, HJ499 polyurethane middle paint. The fourth pass, HJ500 aliphatic polyurethane topcoat (2 passes).

4. The construction method of yacht paint:

Mainly introduce the construction technology of aluminum alloy yacht paint:

A. Surface treatment: Aluminum is a very characteristic metal. When it is oxidized by air, a dense layer of alumina is formed on the surface. This film has excellent corrosion resistance. It's not like steel that can be corroded all the time. So the paint on the aluminum alloy is only decorative. However, ordinary paint is difficult to attach to aluminum alloy. The surface of aluminum alloy must be treated in order to spray the paint layer.

There are several main methods for surface treatment of aluminum alloys: the first one is to change the properties of the aluminum alloys surface, and the surface treatment of aluminum alloys can be performed with a phosphating solution or phosphating primer. After reacting with the aluminum alloy, and aluminum phosphide film that is easy to adhere to the paint is formed. Later, the paint can be sprayed easily. The second kind: use special aluminum alloy special primer, such as Haijian brand epoxy zinc yellow thick primer, Shanghai International epoxy zinc yellow primer, etc., then you can use two-component polyurethane paint.

B. Painting process:

1. Construction environment: the coating environment temperature is 5-35 ℃, the relative humidity is below 85%, the surface temperature of the substrate is more than 3 ℃ above the dew point, and the temperature and humidity should be measured near the substrate. The substrate temperature is higher than 40 ℃, construction is not recommended. It cannot be painted without meeting the painting conditions.

2. Surface treatment: First remove the dirt such as oil stains attached to the surface of aluminum alloy or stainless steel with an alkaline solution and thinner. Use power tools or sandblasting to remove the surface oxide layer, revealing the true color and luster of the metal and a certain roughness. The treated surface is not allowed to have dust, oil, water vapor, and other contaminants. Apply the first primer within 4 hours.

3. Paint matching: The above paints are all two-component paints. Weigh each component before use and mix it evenly according to the specified ratio (see above table). It can be used for construction after half an hour of aging. It is best to use stirring during actual construction.  Agitation. Special thinner can be added appropriately (do not add epoxy thinner to aliphatic polyurethane topcoat), the dosage depends on the situation, the general dilution is 5-10%. Note that each time the paint is mixed, it should be used according to the amount of the day, and it is used now to avoid waste.

4. Use manual roller coating or brush coating, airless spraying, and other construction methods, the coating interval: the first epoxy zinc yellow thick primer is about 12 hours (23 degrees Celsius) after the construction is completed, that is, dry, continue to scrape the atom Gray putty. After the putty is dry and polished to remove dust, you can continue to apply the intermediate paint. At 23 degrees Celsius, after about 12 hours, continue to apply the aliphatic polyurethane topcoat. When the temperature is high, the painting interval can be shortened appropriately.

5. After the construction of each coating, there should be no obvious sagging, pinholes, shrinkage holes, orange peel, and other phenomena on the surface. The longest interval between the two paint constructions should not exceed 15 days. Before the next paint construction, check the paint film for dust, oil, etc. Repainting should be applied to the parts that are missed and the film thickness is not enough.
